David E. Talbert's Suddenly Single

Ok. Definitely not his best work.
David Talbert has done better work. This was somewhat boring and the actors lacked chemistry. Wait for this on Netflix.

Stage play, Not a movie
Don't make the mistake of thinking this is a movie, it's a stage play that had been filmed. Overacting is not my idea of good entertainment. I couldn't even make it through 15 minutes.

very good, very good ,love the movie, I would recommend this movie
very good, very good ,love the movie,I would recomend, I buy all of his items, cant get enough plays or movies, love anything he produces, I got to see his plays when they come to town

The Sword And The Rose

A LOVE THAT WILL NOT BE DENIED...
This is an entertaining costume drama by Disney. Based upon actual historical events, though not quite historically accurate, it tells the love story of the Princess Mary, sister to Henry VIII, and Charles Brandon, a commoner and Captain of the Guard. It is a love made difficult by considerations of state, as well as by the evil machinations of the jealous Duke of Buckingham, who himself is in love with the Princess Mary. Forced to marry the decidedly elderly King of France, despite the fact that she loves Charles Brandon, Mary extracts a promise from Henry to allow her to marry the man of her choice, the second time around. Henry so promises, little knowing what would lie ahead.

Glynis Johns is perfectly charming as the outspoken and determined Princess Mary. Richard Todd is dashing as the handsome Charles Brandon with whom Mary falls in love. James Robertson Justice is a delightful Henry VIII, while Michael Gough is an unctiously evil Duke of Buckingham. This is a delightfully...

THEY DONT MAKE'EM LIKE THIS ANYMORE!
One of the three Disney historicals with Richard Todd from late 40's/early 50's. Why can't movies be made like this nowadays? Lush cinematography, inspiring musical score, crisp and sharp acting without trying to be overly complicated or overly sophisticated. The story line is paramount here; not the special effects, the partial(full) nude copulating scenes, the need for nonstop action scenes (at expense of story line) or the totally moronic (not to mention out of place) rock music sound tracks, and other eye candy (i.e. garbage), seen/heard in movies made these days!

This movie is not for the mass viewing public but for those with some intelligence and culture. This is what cinema was always meant to be. A viewing-treasure for all time!

Bring Back the Sword and the Rose
This is one of the most romantic movies I ever saw as a kid; before Disney movies became sappy or stupid or both. Mr. Todd is so handsome and the flirtation between, eventual love relationship with Glynis Johns is absolutely WONDERFUL. Sexy without naked bodies in contorted positions; devoid of 4-letter words and cute cartoon characters. Three cheers; please, please bring this movie back.

Sacrifice

Artful
A dramatic story very artfully told. Excellent actors. Chen Kaige did not disappoint. Action and dramatic scenes were very well balanced.

Very dramatic
Very nicely made movie, extremely dramatic with not so much martial action though. It is also quite long, more than 2 hours, but given a twisted plot and dialogues, you can hardly notice the time. Overall it is a sad story, which at the end feels somewhat unfinished. Reminds me a bit Curse Of The Golden Flower

Sacrifice
It was a great story line.. gripping....couldve had a better ending but that y I gave it 4 stars. I would watch it again

Rear Window

Rear Window---Newly Restored DVD!!!!
The last few years have seen some classic films that have been given back their old lustre via restoration, including such films as, My Fair Lady, Vertigo, Lawrence Of Arabia to name just a few. These films as well as this film have been restored by the restoration mavericks Robert A. Harris, and James Katz.

I must say after seeing an advance copy of this film that Rear Window looks incredible, especially compared to the Laser Disc copy I have as well as the poor copies that have been showing up on television and VHS over the years.

The colors are vibrant, in particular the reds which don't give a hint of bleeding into the frame, and the image looks I imagine as close to the original as possible given the fact that this film is almost fifty years old now.

The aspect ratio is 1.66:1 which is the proper framing for this film, the sound is the original mono soundtrack and has been scrubbed up to remove any audio imperfections that have built up over the years.

Also included on...

the ultimate Hitchcock classic
The ultimate Hitchcock classic, REAR WINDOW gives us a glimpse into the mind of Alfred Hitchcock, and in turn Hitchcock turns the mirror on us and forces us to admit our darkest desire...to be voyeurs.

That is exactly what Jeffries is. Jeffries (James Stewart) is a wheelchair-bound photographer who spends his time cooped up in his apartment, peeping in on the neighbours across the courtyard. He comes up with "names" for them; Miss Torso the ballerina; Miss Lonely-Hearts; The Newly-Weds and so on. His only contact with the outside world is his girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly) and his wisecracking nurse Stella (Thelma Ritter).

Unknowlingly witnessing the murder of Mrs Thorwald, he, along with Lisa and Stella, set out to expose the truth about Mr Thorwald (Raymond Burr) and uncover the mystery of her quick disapperance.

A beautifully-restored print by James Katz and Robert Harris (also responsible for the beautiful new renderings of MY FAIR LADY and VERTIGO), is the...

Hitchcock's Classy Voyeurism Thriller...
One of the joys of Alfred Hitchcock films is his ability to take social taboos, present them in an enticing context, throw in major stars we know and love to perform them, and thus make abhorrent behavior seem attractive! 'Vertigo' is the best-known example of this Hitchcock trait ('Psycho' also comes to mind), but 'Rear Window' is the most fun to watch, because of the appealing combination of James Stewart and Grace Kelly!

Stewart is a photographer, laid-up while recuperating from an accident (cleverly shown through photographs in his studio), who, out of boredom, begins spying on his neighbors. Jimmy Stewart a 'Peeping Tom'? Only Hitchcock could get away with this!

Of course, Kelly, as his high fashion model girlfriend, and Thelma Ritter (who is fabulous as his nurse), are appalled by Stewart's behavior, but are drawn into voyeurism by Stewart's devotion to it, particularly after he witnesses an apparent murder (committed by Raymond Burr, in one of the most...

Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine / Dr. Goldfoot & the Girl Bombs

The Ultimate Goldfoot Choice
This double-bill of both AIP's Dr. Goldfoot series, "Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine" and the DVD premiere in Reg. 1 of "Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs", it's somewhat controversial sequel is a pleasant way to get both films in one's collection. AIP got Vincent Price to appear in both films, "Bikini Machine" becoming the first production by AIP that had a million dollar budget. Frankie Avalon, Dwayne Hickman and Susan Hart also star and directed by veteran Norman Taurog (considered "the star's director" having directed 10 Elvis vehicles in his career, and which included an Oscar win for directing Jackie Cooper in "Skippy" in 1931 among many others). Many of the successful plot mechanics of "Bikini Machine" were recruited to be included in the sequel "Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs", but what happened was the producers decided to take advantage of tax write-off by having the production foreign made and it was considered a coup that famed horror director Mario Bava agreed to...

Dr. Goldfoot.
Vincent Price stars in this campy funny science fiction movie. Just love the character he portrays as a Mad scientist who creates his girl bikini robots. His plan is to rob all the riches from the wealthy with his bikini robots. Then two bumbling heroes try to stop goldfoot.
The Second movie he comes back with his robots but as girl bombs. He gets involved with the Chinese government to use exploding female robots to disrupt a scheduled NATO war-game by blowing up the various generals involved in the exercise. Goldfoot attempting to start World War 3 between Russia and the United States by dropping a nuclear bomb on Moscow. But then there is a girl chasing agent that plans to stop him

Love this movie and that fact that it is two movies, I have been looking for this two movies and found it in one dvd. Or course what can I say I love Vincent Price. :-)

Gloriously Idiotic!
These two movies are the apex of American International's gloriously idiotic series of widescreen, technicolor teen comedies of the Sixties that began with the Beach Party movies earlier in the decade. Maybe not the apex of quality, but certainly an apex of throwaway idiocy! These are lots of fun.

I'm very happy to see that MGM saw fit to throw this double bill away on a TGG bargain bin release instead of going the much, MUCH more expensive Made-to-Order "Archives" route that is currently the only way to see many of their newly released reissues of cult classic films. I suspect that this double bill had been prepared for MGM's Midnight Movies Double Feature series, but was shelved when MGM fell apart a couple of years ago.

Two gloriously colorful and idiotic Vincent Price COMEDIES for under ten bucks? Buy a copy now!

Holy Flying Circus

Censorship And Scandal: A Historical Biopic Filtered Through Python-esque Zaniness
I've enjoyed the guys from Monty Python as clowns, as satirists, and as provocateurs. Some of their earlier material pushed the boundaries of good taste in the most progressive of ways. Perhaps the most incendiary project they ever worked on, though, was "Monty Python's Life of Brian" which specifically skewers aspects of Christianity. While the boys were certainly equal opportunity offenders, apparently this was one step too far and the film was labeled blasphemous and banned and/or condemned throughout England and many other countries. This untraditional biopic "Holy Flying Circus" tells the story of this controversy and how Michael Palin and John Cleese appeared on a weekly newsmagazine show to debate their opponents (including a Bishop). As fascinating as the topic alone is, though, it is really the presentation of the material that stole my heart. I can't imagine why it took so long for this to receive a proper North American DVD distribution!

This is an absolutely...

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
As a committed Python fan I was really looking forward to viewing this DVD and I was not disappointed. It covers the period immediately after The Life of Brian was released. Today this film is rightly considered one of the masterpieces of comic cinema. However, at the time it caused an enormous furore. There were demonstrations, heated exchanges in the Houses of Parliament, Bishops denouncing it from their pulpits and numerous councils using their powers to ban the showing of the film in their areas.

The presentation is quite Pythonesque. The intro could be straight out of one of the episodes and the cut outs are very skillfully put together. The action is punctuated regularly by cartoon type interludes and dream sequences from the mind of Michael Palin which again could have been lifted straight out of Monty Python. The crew of Monty Python sound and behave closely to what one would have expected whilst John Cleese and Michael Palin do look extremely similar to their real...

`He's Not the Nicest Man on the Planet - He's a Very Naughty Boy!'
This is a BBC 4 programme that was first shown in October of 2011 and I missed it so this was a God send (if he truly exists obviously). It starts as it means to go on by being an homage to the Monty Python Crew and wearing its humour proudly on its sleeve. It says it is all a bit made up which is a bit like the Bible.

It centres around the furore and public hulabaloo that blew up around `The Life of Brian', and the handling that they did to try to get it shown. It was banned in more places than the Sex Pistols Tour had been, with only one London Cinema allowing a screening. In the midst of this Bible bashing self righteousness Mary Whitehousesque frenzy, the BBC waded in. They wanted the boys to appear on the current affairs talk show (not `chat' you understand) `Friday Night, Saturday Morning'.

Michael Palin (Charles Edwards who also plays his own mum!) is the nicest man in the World and John Cleese, well is the opposite and seen as a bit abrasive. As such the...

The Castaway Cowboy

Entertaining little Disney comedy-western
In the early '70's, James Garner made two films for Disney studios, "One Little Indian" and "The Castaway Cowboy." Of the two, "Cowboy" is by far the best: a slight but entertaining little comedy-western co-starring the lovely Vera Miles (who was also in "Indian"). She plays Henrietta McAlvoy, the owner of a failing Hawaiian (known here as the Sandwich Islands) potato plantation whose native workers fish a nearly drowned deserter named Costain (Garner) out of the ocean. While Costain waits for a ship home to Texas, he hatches a plot to save the farm by turning it into a cattle ranch, using the Hawaiian workers as ranch hands. Of course, in Disney films of the era, there is always a villain, and "Cowboy" features Robert Culp as Bryson, a local businessman who romances Henrietta in order to get her land and when she won't sell, stoops to some nasty business to sabotage Garner's plan.

Everything is predictable and ends just like you...

Castaway Cowby--a great movie!
I really liked this movie!! The scenery was beautiful (of course, it's Kauai and that can't be helped!) and the story line was interesting with all the obstacles James Garner had to contend with to help this family establish a cattle ranch. It also had a great ending and the good people won! My kids even enjoyed it (ages 4,5, and 8), so I must recommend it.

Best of the 2
Garner made 2 movie for disney. if your on the look out for good family movie that are fun, no cursing or nudity, a little action and a little romance... you want Castaway Cowboy, CC not One Little Indian, OLI.

CC is a nice movie about a cowboy that ends up stuck on an island. He shows the nice widow woman how to start a cattle ranch instead of tring to far or fish.

OLI is very boring. Not one of my three kids stayed for the end. And isn't that the true test of a movie. It isn't totally what mom or I like, it is also what they will like enough to sit and watch and enjoy.
